Enter the search for the Junior Fashion’s on the Field
Open to young people aged 6-16years there are two categories for 2018

Category 1. Fashion

Wear your best outfit to the races, learn from the professionals how to walk on the runway and go in the running to win great prizes and experiences.
2018 also marks the partnership with Tasmanian Fashion Week which means all entrants will be considered in the search for face of Tasmanian Fashion Week 2019.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Contestant has an outfit suitable for their age group
Outfit is Racewear appropriate
Outfit is on trend
Outfit suits contestant’s body shape and style
Outfit is complete from head to toe including accessories
Outfit is completed with racewear hat or head piece
Contestant is respectful of the competition and its associates on and off stage
Contestant has poise and perhaps charisma on stage
Contestant is enjoying themselves

Category 2. Search is on for Tasmanian Talent

This year, the Hobart Cup Family Day we will host the producers of the Platform (*a performance entity employing young talent for live gigs around Tasmania). Bring you’re A-Game as you hop up on stage with our team of professionals to show us your talent.
The Platform Producers are on the look out for
Dancers, Singers, Actors, Musicians
and anyone with an interesting talent that can entertain a crowd.
Watch the professionals entertain you and then take the stage yourself for the chance to be seen by local producers searching for Tassie Talent to work in their children’s shows.
Prepare a 1minute 30 second piece that will entertain the crowd and complete to become the 'Producers Choice' in the 2018 selections.
Other prizes and great opportunities will also be awarded.

Outfit is appropriate for their style of performance
Contestant is confident in their performance
Contestant is entertaining and engages the audience in one way or another
Contestant is energetic
Contestant maintains their character throughout the performance
Contestant is respectful of the competition and its associates on and off stage
Contestant has poise and perhaps charisma on stage
Contestant is enjoying themselves
1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be awarded on the day!

HOW TO PREPARE:

WHEN: Sunday 28th January 2018
WHERE: Hobart Racecourse, Elwick ‘Stage Area’

TIME TO ARRIVE:

GATE OPENING TIME: 11am
REGISTRATIONS:  Open at 12pm and close at 1:30pm
*Bring your families and enjoy the Children’s Entertainment and Races on the green before judging time
12:30pm: From this time, the Talent Quest entrants will perform in 15minute time slots between races (*you are required to be at the registration desk at least 15minutes prior to your performance time-slot given to you on arrival)
2pm: All entrants to be at registration area to prepare for Fashions on the Field
2:30pm: Fashions on the Field judging commences.  All entrants to remain in stage area until announcement of winner’s at approx. 3/3:30pm.

WHAT TO BRING:

Fashions on the Field:
Your best Racewear
*Important note: All outfits must be age appropriate and present as conservative.

- Outfits must include a hat or head piece
If organisers deem an outfit is inappropriate for the audience or judging criteria,
the contestant will be.

Talent Quest:
Costume: suitable costume/clothing to suit performance
Music: supplied on an IPOD/USB *must have song ready to be played without confusion and must be labelled with your full name
Props/Instruments: all props/instruments must be declared on entry form and approved by event organisers.  If organisers deem props to be inappropriate or dangerous, you will be contacted and asked to remove this item from your act. *Note: no props or instruments will be accepted if they are not pre-approved in the entry process.

AGE CATEGORIES:

There will be two age categories’ 6-12 years and 13-16 years
All entrants: All outfits must be age appropriate and present as conservative.  If organisers deem an outfit/music or prop is inappropriate for the family audience, the entrant will be excused from the competition.

ON THE DAY REGISTRATIONS:

12pm registrations for both categories will be open to those who have not yet registered
*Note: there are limited spaces due to time constraints and this may mean that if you register on the day, you may miss-out.

TALENT QUEST ENTRIES:

*You will be required to enter details on entry form in regard to your performance eg; what your performing etc
*There will be no time for rehearsal on the stage
*Stage is 7mtr in length and 4mtr in depth
*You have no longer than 1minute and 30second to perform on stage
*Music (if applicable): bring your backing music on an ipod/USB or CD clearly labelled to be played on the day
*Instruments: please enter all instruments on the entry form and organisers will confirm if there is an issue with facilitating these
*If your music does not play on the day due to technical issues, you can still perform without it if you wish.
 Junior fashion on the field and Talent entries must be accompanied by a guardian at all times

Junior Fashions on the field Terms and Conditions:

- Contestants and/or their outfits are not permitted to promote commercially a brand, store or designer or receive a commercial benefit from appearing in the competition.
- Contestants must not receive any payment or benefit from a third party (including any commercial enterprise) for entering, participating or otherwise in connection with this competition.
- Any person who is in any way involved with, works as or otherwise works for an organisation or individual (including milliners or designers) that commercially produces fashion clothing, hats or similar for profit, and is deemed to receive an advantage through that position (at VRC’s discretion), is ineligible to enter this competition.
- Contestants may only enter this competition in their own private capacity and not on behalf of a third party including any commercial enterprise.
- Contestants must not be dressed by or styled by a designer.   
- Contestants are not permitted to alter or add to their outfit in any way from the beginning until the end.
- Judges decision is final at time of official judging.

Junior Fashions on the field Terms and Conditions:

Talent Quest contestants must adhere to the Fashions on the Field Terms and Conditions as well as...
- The producers choice is final.
- Place winners for the Talent Quest will be open to being employed through the Platform for Children's Entertainment show’s across Tasmania. These shows are character based and all entertainers are paid for their time except in a charity capacity, where entertainers have the choice to be involved or not.
- Opportunities involve flash mobs, children’s character shows, pop-up performances and more.
- Place winners will receive detailed information on ‘next steps’ of what is involved in being a part of the Platform entertainment crew and have a choice as to whether they accept the opportunity or not.
- All opportunities through the Platform are expressed as something to be accepted i.e. if a time, location and character is something you are not comfortable with, it is ok to say no and therefore the next opportunity may be something more suited to you.
